Eibar boss Jose Luis Mendilibar spoke about Lionel Messi on Thursday ahead of his team’s trip to Camp Nou to take on Barcelona in La Liga.
There’s a chance Messi could be rested with Martin Braithwaite having arrived from Leganes and Napoli up next in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Yet Mendilibar had a bit of fun in his pre-match presser. He reckons that Messi knows how to rest during games and would be better off on the pitch than the stands.
“I don’t think [Messi] rests,” he said.
”This bastard rests in the game. He knows when he has to participate, when to rest.
”If he was given the day off he would have a worse time watching from the stands and get more tired.”

The Eibar boss also went on to explain how Messi had been on the bench due to illness in a game when he was Osasauna boss. The GOAT came on with Barca winning 2-0 and scored twice to complete a 4-0 victory.
