A group, Kano Concerned Citizens Initiative, on Monday called on political leaders in Kano State to avoid activities that could throw the state into political crisis.

The group’s chairman, Alhaji Bashir Tofa, made the call at a press conference in Kano.

Tofa, who was the presidential candidate of the defunct National Republican Convention in the 1993 election, urged political gladiators to act within the ambit of the law ahead of the supplementary election holding in the state on Saturday.

He also urged political leaders to warn their followers to be law-abiding before and during the election.

He said, “Kano and Kanawa shall never allow our state to burn on account of anybody’s ambition to lead or govern us.

“Our youths need to wake up to the reality that it is their future, which KCCI and every well-meaning persons in Kano are trying to nurture and secure. They should eschew violence.

“We are disturbed by the seeming discord and impatience manifesting in Kano since the collation of the March 9 governorship and state House of Assembly Election results, as well as the declaration by INEC that the governorship poll was inconclusive.”
