Congrats are in order for Chrissy Teigen. The model, host, producer, and much more is not only expecting, but she’s revealed the sex of her unborn child. Teigen did so in a way that’s completely unique to her: an accidental slip of the tongue while sharing an update on her bed rest situation.
Chrissy Teigen is a mom to two kids
Teigen is a mother twice over. After marrying singer John Legend in 2013, they welcomed two children together. First came daughter Luna in 2016, following by son Miles in 2018. Teigen has been upfront about her struggles to conceive, sharing her journey with in-vitro fertilization with the world.
“Ours didn’t work the first time, and it was devastating,” she told Harper’s Bazaar in 2018. “When you go through IVF, it does feel like, ‘Oh it’s not fair I have to do all this,’” she continued. “Still, it’s a complete miracle when it works. There are so many people that still struggle, even with access to IVF.”
She is pregnant with her third child
Before announcing her third pregnancy, Teigen had spoken about using one of the remaining embryos at some point in the future. However, she had also shared how difficult two children can be, leading fans to believe she and Legend planned to wait a few years before trying again.
However, that wasn’t in the cards. But Teigen didn’t have one of the embryos implanted — instead, she and Legend were surprised with a natural conception this time around. “We just didn’t think we could have a baby the old-fashioned way, honestly,” Legend told People. “I figured it wouldn’t happen to us because we’ve had fertility struggles.”
Teigen has been on bed rest for weeks
Not long after sharing her good news with the world, Teigen revealed that she was on bed rest. This came at a difficult time for her, as she has numerous projects in the works, and Luna and Miles are in homeschooling — not to mention, she and Legend are selling their house.
“Been in bed for all but 5 mins of the last 24 hours,” she wrote on Twitter on the day before the slip. “Here til next Tuesday. Lord it’s kind of crappier than it sounds. On punishment for saying the first two pregnancies were easy peasy.”
What did she spill about baby No. 3?
While sharing an update on September 17, 2020, Teigen let slip the sex of her baby. She posted an Instagram Story where she talked about why she was on bed rest, explaining that it had to do with her placenta. And while doing so, she accidentally revealed that she’s having a boy.
“My placenta sucks,” Teigen said. “It’s always been kind of the bad part of my pregnancies…Anyways it’s super weak, but it’s so weird because the baby’s really, really healthy, and he’s big.” She then cut herself off, beginning the next video by saying, “I’m stupid.” However, she didn’t mind sharing, writing, “might as well tell you” over the video.
