As Winter Storm Diego continues to hamper travel in the Southeast after a weekend full of flight cancellations and power outages, many flights are still being impacted.
According to FlightAware.com as of 8 a.m. ET, there are almost 550 canceled flights within, into or out of the United States Monday, while another 269 flights have been delayed. On Sunday, over 1,600 flights were canceled and another 1,400-plus were delayed.
Amtrak also announced the following trains are canceled for Monday, including The Crescent 19 (New York – New Orleans), Carolinian 79 & 80 (New York – Charlotte) and Piedmont 73/74, 75/76, 77/78 (Raleigh – Charlotte).
For cruise travelers, no itineraries were impacted and the new American Cruise Lines voyage aboard the American Constitution will sail from Norfolk, Virginia, on Christmas Eve without being impacted by the storm.
In total, Winter Storm Diego dumped over a foot of snow in some areas of the Southeast, and left states such as Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia and Tennessee dealing with hazardous road conditions Monday morning.
The National Weather Service said the storm is expected to dissipate Monday before the remnants move over the Atlantic Ocean later in the day into Tuesday.
