She’s amassed quite the following on Instagram and looking at her retro style, it’s not hard to see why. Take a look at alte style icon, Deto.
Detoblack is someone who is all over our Insta feeds. If not for her great outfits, certainly for her creative re-imagining of old nollywood. The young creative is a staple on the alte scene and here is why Detoblack is the alte style icon we didn’t know we needed.
Deto‘s cool credentials were solidified when she was listed as one of the 13 young artists shaping Nigeria’s creative scene by Dazed and Confused. Speaking about her to Dazed, Mowalola Ogunlesi, the creative director behind eponymous label Mowalola said:
She’s a person who is starting a lot of much-needed conversations in Nigeria. She questions everything, and the way our society is is that we kind of just agree with our parents and keep doing down a straight road, but she questions why we do this.
It just changes a lot of people’s ideas and makes them question things too and makes them think differently. So I’m really excited to see how changes in views will create a change in Nigeria’s future, and she is someone who does it so well.
Deto, who counts musician Odunsi as a friend and DJ Wayne as her equally cool other half, is firmly embedded in the group of culture-shapers driving forward the Nigerian creative scene.
Her style, offbeat, sexy and unexpected is a breath of fresh air from the norm and an ode to another era in style. Take a look at Deto’s looks and see why she’s in Pulse Fashion’s style spotlight.
